Severin Sea Lodge ★★★★

Perfect location in Bamburi beach. Extremely friendly and professional staff who made sure we were comfortable. They helped us set up a tour of Mombasa city.

The wifi was very unstable and at times not working. I got food poisoning from one of my meals (a la carte lunch), but the breakfast and diner buffet were very good.

The hotel is nice and tidy. We really liked it. Food was great, very nice buffet with many different choices for breakfast and dinner. Tasty and affordable coffee. Super nice and friendly staff.

Great location away from the chaos of the city, relaxed beach front location. Lovely breakfast. Room was recently renovated and very nice. Still some renovations happening to other rooms but never heard any noise or noticed workers. Very friendly and helpful staff. Pools are great when the tide is low.

A bit hard to arrange ubers from this location, but the hotel also has their own transport to assist. Mattresses are a bit firm for my liking.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was excellent. Getting the half-board option was a good idea. Also, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the gym exceeded my expectations.

The beach is covered with dark leaves. The vendors harass you and make it difficult to enjoy a walk on the beach.

Nice environment and everything functioned. Staff were very attentive and took every opportunity to make you feel welcome. The old African feel of the entire facility was particularly appreciated.

The bed wasn't quite lush, I'm not sure if this is deliberate, and my room (184) was by the fence separating the hotel from another facility that makes sure guests do not enjoy sleep before 11pm almost daily due to very loud music.

Very friendly staff, nicely maintained greenery, three restaurant options that allows to switch dinner up during the stay, great bar (especially at beach) with variety of options and even 9 different gin types. Great for a first stop after landing in Mombasa and continuing the travel. Pre-organization with arranging transport was very quick and responsive!

The staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are spacious and well designed, there is no mosquito menance ( I think I saw only one mosquito) the food is also very good - I particularly liked the availability of a very balanced and healthy diet at breakfast, and when my wife asked for a different vegetable from what was on the menu that day, the chef was happy to assist. They have a very active animation team and on Saturday there was entertainment by the very good Generation band

Nothing - everything was good

The property never felt over crowded, there were always sun loungers available on the lawn overlooking the beach. The rooms were big and clean with fantastic air conditioning and hot showers. The beds were pretty comfortable. The sun loungers had fantastic large beach towels. My friend and I like to work out, the gym was basic but there were dumbbells and a bench and a running machine so we could improvise a workout. The two pools are large and very clean and have great shade available from the trees. One of the Gardner’s bought us fresh coconuts to drink/eat for a tip (300 shillings) which were a real treat. You can walk down the beach (south) to a restaurant called YUL’s which does the best pizzas and also the nicest Ice cream I’ve had outside Italy!! The buffet is plentiful. My friend and I had omelette and fresh mangoes every day for breakfast. We hired a car for two nights to drive up to Watamu and the hotel arranged for the hotel car to be delivered to us at the hotel by a helpful guy called Victor. Make sure you leave at least 90mins to get to the airport in the afternoon as my friend and I cut it fine to make our flight. All in all I’d recommend the Severin Sea Lodge to people looking for a chilled beach/pool holiday in a clean and friendly hotel.

Waiters at the main restaurant were friendly and approachable. Food was good.

Room had a leaking AC, some service staff at the beach bar are biased.

Very comfortable place to stay, it is very clean and the staff was very friendly. The rooms are off very high standard.

The food was amazing, the location was perfect for a holiday but I was there for work so never got to enjoy the quietness. All the staff were always helpful and smiling, which made for a pleasant stay.

The roads coming in were not finished so the ride in and out everyday were not that pleasant.

Sea view was not great (unable to see the beach from the room even though it stated it on the website and an extra charge was added for the view when a room exchange was requested) The view was still very poor when the room was changed.
